Please note – it has become necessary to request a deposit against extra cleaning and time taken to close up the centre, particularly after late night parties, where the hall has been left in a mess and the furniture left stacked dangerously. Should the party/hirer not be ready to leave at the agreed time on their booking – an additional charge will be made for every 15 mins extra time taken to clear away.
Sadly this has happened a few times recently and has caused an enormous amount of extra work and hours spent at the centre for the trustees, who receive no payment but give their time freely to keep the centre running smoothly for the benefit of the community and users.
Each booking will be discussed on its own merits with Kate, the administrator, at time of booking, as to whether a deposit against damage/clearing up/cleaning may be required.
Regular, known hall users will be exempt from paying a deposit.
The hall is managed by a very small number of trustees. They are not paid for their time opening and closing the two halls, nor are they paid for clearing up after a booking, or any other time spent overseeing the management and smooth running of the centre. The majority of hirers are aware of this and respect the centre and clear away and clean up after use. Unfortunately some do not, and there have been occasions where a lone female trustee has felt intimidated by the hirers when they have gone to close up the centre late at night.

Thornton Community Centre has the perfect facilities for you in their recently refurbished sports hall.
There is a super new kitchen with full cooking facilities, hob, oven, microwave and a large fridge. Together with 2 new unisex toilets and a toilet for the disabled (with baby changing facilities).
The hall is clean, light and airy after a complete refurbishment last year and the ceiling high enough to accommodate some bouncy castles.
To add to this the Centre now boasts a number of outdoor/indoor games for children for hire at just £10 per session.
