Thornton Community Centre Summer Raffle

Village hall raffle tickets now on sale at Raj’s corner shop. All proceeds will go towards the maintenance and improvement of Thornton Community Centre.

To be drawn at the hall on Saturday 17th August 2019.

(Due to unforeseen circumstances the Music in the Meadow event will not now be taking place on that date).

The WiLL Project

The WiLL project is focusing on Thornton and the surrounding villages to engage with anyone that may looking for employment, training or voluntary work.

The WiLL project has a variety of partners that can offer specific help e.g. CASE – business startup, Prince’s Trust for 18-30 year old, LCC pop-up job clubs, VAL – specific voluntary work placements, WEA – confidence building courses and more. The project runs until June 2020.

Tori Haines is going to be at the Thornton Primary School fete on Saturday and at the Thornton Sports Hall at the Thornton Community Centre  on Wednesdays 10am – 2pm for the next three weeks promoting the Work Live Leicestershire project.

Thornton Scarecrow Festival

Quiz Night

Another successful quiz night at the village hall on the 8th June raised £300 towards the upkeep of the centre.

72 locals and visitors enjoyed a ‘bring and share’ supper. £90 in prize money was given away and a fun time had by all.

Look out for the next one in the winter which will be a fish and chip supper.

50’s & 60’s Night at The Thornton

Due to illness – the 50’s & 60’s night at The Thornton club on Saturday 8th June has been cancelled. Apologies to all who were looking forward to an excellent fun night out.

RockSka will be playing on Saturday 22nd June

Will’s Karaoke will be on Saturday 6th July
