Wednesday March 2nd has been designated as Global Day of Prayer for peace.
St Peter’s Thornton will be open from 11 am on Wednesday for private prayer, and at 12 noon there will be a short prayer service for peace led by Delia, followed by a time of quiet reflection. Please join us if you can.’
There will also be a Short Prayer service at St Peter’s, Copt Oak, 12pm (with imposition of ashes) and both St Mary’s, Stanton and St Michael’s Church, Markfield will be open for quiet prayer from 11am-1pm. Again, everyone welcome.
If you are unable to visit the churches you might like to pray at home.
Thornton Community Centre and the grounds to the rear of the centre have been made available to the residents of Thornton (free of charge) over the 4 day Bank Holiday in June (Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022) to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Does anyone have any ideas on how the village may celebrate this momentous occasion?
Are there any residents willing to organise events at the centre, both inside and out?
Would the school children like to take part in activities at the centre?
You are all little angels and we invite you to bring your parent/grandparent/minder to our free, monthly Little Angels session.
Songs, nursery rhymes and a short Bible story are followed by plenty of time for play. For ages 1 day up to 4 years. Great way to make new friends – for children and adults alike. You are welcome to come and join this happy and friendly group.
Meets in St Peter’s Church Thornton at 2pm on Thursday March 3rd (always the first Thursday of the month during termtime). We finish at 3pm, in time to get to the school gate for those who need to. There is no charge.
