Heritage Weekend – We Want Your Stories! ðŸŒ¿

As in previous years we are taking part in National Heritage week and are putting together a special Heritage Weekend event at St. Peter’s Church, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September 2026 to celebrate Thornton and our beautiful Grade 1 listed Church.

The event will include information on the history and birdlife of Thornton and will be suitable for all ages.

We would love local people, past and present residents, families and friends of Thornton to come forward and share their memories, stories and photographs of our wonderful village.

Do you have a story to tell about Thornton?

Maybe you remember the old shops, schools, businesses, village events, local characters, traditions or special moments from years gone by?

Every memory, whether big or small, helps to bring Thornton’s history to life and preserve it for future generations.

If you have a memory to share we’d love to hear from you and are happy to write your story down, record it or for you to come along to the event and tell your story.

Please do pass on the word.
