Heritage Open Days ~ Sept 2024

England’s largest festival of history and culture!

Heritage Open Days 2024: 6-15 September

Every September thousands of volunteers across England organise events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.

As part of Heritage Open Days, St Peter’s Church, Thornton, will be open over the weekend of 14th and 15th September for all to visit.  It’s your chance to explore this lovely Grade 1, historical church for yourselves, and discover its wealth of history.  An Exhibition in the church entitled ‘Historic Thornton’ will provide a fascinating insight into Thornton’s history.

The church will be open between 10 am and 6 pm on Saturday 14th and from 1 pm till 5 pm on Sunday afternoon.  Entry is free.  Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Any contributions towards the exhibition are welcome.  Please contact churchwarden.thornton@gmail.com and thorntonvillage@aol.com

Thornton Tea with a Twist

Our next meeting is this Wednesday 3rd July from 2 until 4 pm at the community centre as usual.

Gemma from the rural hub will be with us to help with  all your questions and for a chat.  She can offer advice on finances, well being,  health, family, schooling anything really, or is happy just to have a good chat.

Hope to see you there.  Let me know if you need a lift.  Do let others know.

I have lost a lot of email addresses and am having to start again. If you haven’t heard from me for a while, please email me, your address is probably one I lost when the computer crashed!

Thanks.
