Christingle at Thornton Church on Christmas Eve at 4pm – a really special start to Christmas!

A village in Leicestershire and in the heart of the National Forest, overlooking Thornton Reservoir.
Christingle at Thornton Church on Christmas Eve at 4pm – a really special start to Christmas!

There is another baby/toddler clothes swap on Thursday from 2-2.45am in St Peter’s Church. There are so many lovely, good quality clothes waiting for you – many hardly worn, and all being given away free. Last time people were very polite and only went away with a couple of items each. This time we invite you to bring your carrier bags or bin bags and FILL them with items that you think you could make use of! If you have clothes to bring down, please do so, that would be great.

Sands, the charity that leads Baby Loss Awareness Week, works to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families. The Week is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to remember much-loved and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
This special week is represented by its logo; up and down the country there is opportunity for those who have experienced loss to place a ribbon to remember their babies.
RIBBON DISPLAYS will be at the Lychgate at St Peter’s Church, Thornton and at the Main gate at St Mary’s Church Stanton. Ribbons are provided free of charge.
If you would like to donate to SANDS and its important work, please scan the QR code on the picture
Looking for a group for babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers and their carers? Come and join us at Little Angels.
Opportunity for the children to play but equally important, a chance for the adults to chat! If your feel your baby is too young to ‘play’, do not stay away , this is equally for you- we have several young babies and mums hoping to come and join us this autumn and meet other mums for a chat!
Next date is Thursday 7th September 2-3pm in St Peter’s church in Thornton

Babies grow so quickly! Some clothes only end up being worn a few times – what a waste! And buying new clothes after each growth spurt can also prove expensive.
So, the ‘Little Angels’ group is organising a BABY and TODDLER CLOTHES SWAP at St Peter’s Church in two weeks’ time. Spread the news and see you there!

Following on from the success of the jubilee teas, a group of villagers have organised a series of afternoons over the next few months. We have called it ‘Thornton Tea with a Twist ‘ (or the Three Ts!) and it is a free afternoon for anyone from the village to drop in for a cuppa and chat. Open to all ages there will refreshments with games available as well for those who wish, and a book swap. There will be children’s toys too. It will be on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 2-4pm at the Community Centre – the first one is on 14th September. Whether you come on your own or with a friend, this is an excellent way to spend an afternoon and meet fellow villagers. Hope to meet some of you there!
