A village in Leicestershire and in the heart of the National Forest, overlooking Thornton Reservoir.
Thornton Tea with a Twist will be held in the cafe at Thornton Nurseries on Wednesday 9th August 2023 at the usual time of 2pm.
This is whilst major repairs and refurbishments are carried out at the Community Centre (laying new drains).

We have a published author in our midst.
At a recent gathering of the Thornton Ladies luncheon group at the Bricklayers Arms it came out in casual conversation that a member of the group is a published author, writing under the pseudonym of Catherine Cliffe.
Four books have been published and are available on Amazon with more on the way.
For more information check out her website – https://catherinecliffeauthor.co.uk/#books
Do you know who the mystery author is?
The ‘Ladies who lunch’ will have to take care what they say or they could find themselves subject of the next plot!

Major works will be taking place at the Centre for up to 2 weeks from Monday 31st July 2023.
Due to collapsed drains from the centre to the main road there will be no access to the Parish Council recreation area and reservoir via the centre driveway which is being dug up for a new drainage system to be laid.
Originally this work was planned for the Easter holidays but the contractors were unable to commit to this date and cancelled at the last minute,
The work will be carried out by SPS Groundworks & Building Ltd (0116 3678233) under the supervision of architect David Beaumont.
The entrance to the driveway from Main Street, the car park, and the alleyway at the side of the Sports Hall will be fenced off, so there will be no vehicular or pedestrian access to the recreation area between the centre and the reservoir.
To access this area on foot pedestrians will have to take the path along side the school.
It is anticipated that this work may take up to two weeks, but hopefully less.
During this time the refurbishment of the Main hall toilets will be completed and new modern white doors fitted throughout the centre.

Note from the author of the treasure hunt – it appears that Severn Trent have removed clue number two in the reservoir car park!
Apologies.
