Nosh & Natter

The Nosh & Natter luncheon is back after a 2 year break due to Covid ‘lockdowns’.

This group was originally created four years ago for retired and semi retired ladies who live in Thornton to get together once a month over lunch.

It has been decided that for the new year all lunches will be held at the Bricklayers Arms, but instead of midday on a Wednesday as before, it will be at a later time, and the day of the month may vary to allow for more accessibility.

The first luncheon of the new year will be at the Bricklayers Arms, Thornton on Thursday 26th January at 1.30pm.

If you would like to come then please email – thorntonvillage@aol.com at least a week before the date so that we can confirm the booking and numbers with Anna & Nic.

Thornton Churchyard ~ Restricted access

There will be restricted access through the churchyard via the Lychgate all day on Wednesday 4th January from 8am to allow the felling of another diseased beech tree.

To access the reservoir please use the footpath through the recreation ground, the path by the side of the school, or via Reservoir Road.

I am really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bricklayers Arms – Thornton

I’m sure everyone in the village, and regular visitors to our lovely local pub would like to wish Ben and Jan, a very happy and long retirement.

They leave the pub on Sunday the 27th November for a well deserved rest after years of hard work at the ‘Brickies’.

We thank them for all they have done for the village, including the pie nights, the steak nights, Sunday lunches and especially Thursday quiz nights.

Whilst wishing them and their daughter Emma well in their new home, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to the new licensees Anna & Nic.
