Working Party – St Peter’s Church – Saturday 19th March

There is to be another working party to tidy St Peter’s church yard this Saturday, 19th March, from 10 until 12 noon.

Some of the bigger jobs include sorting out the south west corner of the old churchyard, and the north boundary of the new churchyard.

There is lots of tidying of graves and under and around some of the trees as well.  And as ever lots of branches and twigs to collect.

And if you spot something you would like to tackle that’s great.

Please bring whatever tools you think you might need including gloves, and a drink.

Look forward to seeing some of you there.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our first ever Clear Out Sale at Thornton Community Centre.

After donations were included an amazing sum of £510 was made for the upkeep of Thornton’s beautiful ancient church.

Thank you!

Following on from the success of this venture we are hoping to have more of these events in the future.   Do watch out for details.

All the tables were booked very quickly.  I am sorry to those of you who would have liked one but were unlucky this time.

Thanks again to everyone who supported this event or helped in any way.

Working Party – St Peter’s Church – Saturday 5th March

Now spring is rapidly approaching I think we should start the working parties going again to tidy the churchyards.

The first one will be this coming Saturday from 10 am until 12 noon. If you are able to join us, even if its only for a short while you would be very welcome.

Jobs include collecting  the fallen branches and twigs,  tidying some of the graves in the old church yard, clearing the drains and anything else you think needs doing.

Please bring gloves and whatever tools you think you might need.   A flask of tea or coffee might be nice as we usually stop for a break around 11 am.  I will provide biscuits.

Hope some of you can make it.  If you know anyone else that would like to join us then do bring them along.

Thanks.

Shirley (Churchwarden)
