Friends of St Peter’s, Thornton – membership

The Friends of St Peter’s (FOSP) are a small group of villagers who fund raise for the repairs and refurbishment of the church and grounds. Part of all monies raised are through a number of village events and some by a small membership fee and donations.

If you would like to subscribe to this very worthy cause, then please read the information below and complete the subscription form attached.

St Peter’s Church – working party

Under the ‘usual’ pattern we should be meeting this Saturday, 8th March.

Instead we will meet the following Saturday, 15th March.  I do hope you will be able to join us. 

The time remains the same – 10 until 12 noon, drop in at any time, stay for as long as you want.

All the usual jobs – clearing growth, bonfire, gathering branches etc.

Please bring a drink, any tools you might find handy, stout gloves and suitable footwear.

MIDSUMMER FOOD FESTIVAL

Food Festival on Saturday 21st June 2025.

10.30 am to 2.30 pm

Thornton Community Centre LE67 1AH

We invite you to book a stall to promote and sell your tasty food produce.

We are looking for a wide variety of stalls selling artisan foods and so will therefore be restricting each category, so early booking is essential.

This event will provide an excellent opportunity for you to promote your speciality food locally.

Organized by Friends of St Peter’s, raising money for St Peter’s church building, a grade 1 listed medieval building.

 

Thornton Teas with a Twist – 3T’s

Wednesday 19th February 2 to 4 pm

Our next afternoon is tomorrow, 19th February.

Please do come and join us for a happy afternoon at Thornton Community Centre, LE67 1AH. 

Everyone is welcome, including well behaved dogs on leads, to drop in at any time and stay for as long as you like.   Just come along and see what we are all about.

Cake, tea & coffee and time to chat.  Games, puzzles and books (to borrow too).  No charge.

Tired of the cold winter and soaring energy costs?

If you have an open coal fire or multi fuel stove, a new local business in Newbold Heath is selling 20kg sacks of smokeless fuel at a great price with door-to-door delivery.

St Peter’s Church – Saturday 8th February

Our next working party is this Saturday, 10 until 2 pm  It will be primarily to tidy up after the winds of recent weeks.

Jobs include:

Tidying up after the soil bank removal

Collecting branches etc

Removing leaves off public footpath

Tidying edges of church path

Plus everything else you would like to do

Hope you can join us even it’s for a short time.  Please wear stout shoes and gloves, and bring any tools you think would be helpful, plus a drink.
