Wildlife meadow

On Friday 26th July, members of the Thornton W.I. and guests were invited to visit Kathryn’s garden and wildlife meadow at the rear of her home in Main Street. The garden and meadow, stretching down to the reservoir, is bursting with colour, the hum of bees and a plethora of butterflies and birds. The tour was led by neighbour and wildlife enthusiast, Andy Smith who identified the plants and butterflies on show. As many as 17 different species of butterflies have been spotted in the meadow on previous occasions. A very hot and humid day, the tea and cakes served on the terrace were most welcome.
