Celebration Of Angels

This year we are celebrating angels at St Peter’s church, Thornton during the weekend of 13th and 14th of December.

You are invited to help us in this venture by creating your version of celebrating angels in whatever medium you choose.  It could be decorating a Christmas Tree with angels, paper chains of angels, mobile of angels, knitted angels – anything that is angelic.

Prizes will be awarded to the best in three different categories as judged by the people visiting the celebration during the weekend.

Prizes will be given out after the Carol Service which will take place at 6pm on Sunday, 14th December.

If you are interested in creating and exhibiting your own display please let us know by contacting  Sue on suembakewell@gmail.com or 01530 231625.

DATE FOR THE NEXT BABY/PRE-SCHOOL CLOTHES SWAP!

Thursday November 7th at 1.30pm. These have been very successful – spread the news of this next date:

(NB if you have friends whose children have just started school, please could you encourage them to donate? Last time we had plenty of 0-2 years but were a little short of clothes for our toddlers to grow into! )

Another baby/toddler clothes swap!

After the two successful events, Little Angels is holding another clothes swap next month for baby/toddler/preschool age clothes. All free to those who can make use of them. If you can bring clothes to swap, great, but is is not essential. June 6th 1.30-2.30pm in St Peter’s Church.

Please spread the word…..

If you live in Thornton and your garden is your pride and joy or you have an interesting feature in your garden or a theme that you think would be of interest, why not note the date now and consider opening this year?

Watch out for more publicity in the next few months, in the meantime if you would like to express your initial nterest or have any questions, please contact us:  Lis Muller 01530 231502; Sue Bakewell :  01530 231625 or e-mail thornton.opengardens@outlook.com

Thanks.  LM

Attention all you with babies and toddlers!

There is another baby/toddler clothes swap on Thursday from 2-2.45am in St Peter’s Church. There are so many lovely, good quality clothes waiting for you – many hardly worn, and all being given away free. Last time people were very polite and only went away with a couple of items each. This time we invite you to bring your carrier bags or bin bags and FILL them with items that you think you could make use of! If you have clothes to bring down, please do so, that would be great.

9-5th October: Baby Loss Awareness week – RIBBON DISPLAYS

Sands, the charity that leads Baby Loss Awareness Week, works to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families. The Week is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to remember much-loved and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

This special week is represented by its logo; up and down the country there is opportunity for those who have experienced loss to place a ribbon to remember their babies.

RIBBON DISPLAYS will be at the Lychgate at St Peter’s Church, Thornton and at the Main gate at St Mary’s Church Stanton.  Ribbons are provided free of charge.

If you would like to donate to SANDS and its important work, please scan the QR code on the picture

How are your ‘little angels’?

Looking for a group for babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers and their carers? Come and join us at Little Angels.

Opportunity for the children to play but equally important, a chance for the adults to chat! If your feel your baby is too young to ‘play’, do not stay away , this is equally for you- we have several young babies and mums hoping to come and join us this autumn and meet other mums for a chat!

Next date is Thursday 7th September 2-3pm in St Peter’s church in Thornton
