Village Link The February edition of the magazine is now ready!

The February edition of the magazine is now ready and can be accessed on http://www.j22churches.org.uk/

We are really sorry and sad that there will be no hard copies of the magazine for February. Our regular printer, ‘TeamPrint’, has been closed since April 2020 because of Covid-19. Printing the magazine ourselves has become very costly even though we were printing fewer copies.

As soon as ‘TeamPrint’ are up and running again, we will be back in business.Meanwhile there will continue to be monthly editions of the magazine available online on the Benefice website.

We don’t yet know what will happen for March’s edition but will keep you informed.

When we do eventually start to print the magazine again everyone should receive a hard copy as in previous years.

For further information please contact me on 01530 230422. Thank you.

‘CHRISTMAS CAROL’ WINDOWS

Christmas lights are going up all round the village and it seems people are decorating for Christmas! How are your ‘Christmas carol’ windows going?

I posted a couple of week ago that the J22 benefice churches (Markfield, Thornton, Stanton-under-Bardon, Bagworth and Copt Oak) had an idea to brighten up our villages with a simple and fun idea – that as many people as possible decorate a window in their house in the theme of a Christmas Carol. Then as people walk by, they can look out for the decorated windows and guess the carols, maybe singing a few verses to help them on their way.

I have heard that a few have already been done in Markfield – have we any yet in Thornton?

The benefice will be having an online Carol service on Sunday 20th at 4pm and an online Christingle Service at 4pm on Christmas Eve on our Youtube channel. They can be watched at any time after that – to suit your plans.

Please note that, with things changing as they are, the list of services published may not be accurate. The Benefice website http://www.j22churches.org.uk/ is kept bang up to date and lists services in all the churches and online. One thing for certain – the Carol service (20th@4pm) and Christingle Service (24th@4pm) will be online this year.

Christmas Windows – start planning!

Things are different this year and sadly it doesn’t look as though the local churches will be able to hold carol services in their traditional form. However, the J22 benefice churches (Markfield, Thornton, Stanton-under-Bardon, Bagworth and Copt Oak) have had an idea to brighten up our villages and bring a smile to peoples’ faces as they take their daily exercise.

The idea is simple – in the run up to Christmas we would like as many people as possible to decorate a window in their house in the theme of a Christmas Carol. Then as people walk by, they can look out for the decorated windows and guess the carols, maybe singing a few verses to help them on their way.

So start thinking and planning! You could have a theme for your road – for example – The Twelve Days of Christmas – and maybe even vote for your favourite.

However you decide to do it, let’s bring some extra happiness and community spirit to the village this Christmas!

We will be holding an online Carol service and an online Christingle Service – so watch out for details nearer the time!
