Please note that, with things changing as they are, the list of services published may not be accurate. The Benefice website http://www.j22churches.org.uk/ is kept bang up to date and lists services in all the churches and online. One thing for certain – the Carol service (20th@4pm) and Christingle Service (24th@4pm) will be online this year.
Things are different this year and sadly it doesn’t look as though the local churches will be able to hold carol services in their traditional form. However, the J22 benefice churches (Markfield, Thornton, Stanton-under-Bardon, Bagworth and Copt Oak) have had an idea to brighten up our villages and bring a smile to peoples’ faces as they take their daily exercise.
The idea is simple – in the run up to Christmas we would like as many people as possible to decorate a window in their house in the theme of a Christmas Carol. Then as people walk by, they can look out for the decorated windows and guess the carols, maybe singing a few verses to help them on their way.
So start thinking and planning! You could have a theme for your road – for example – The Twelve Days of Christmas – and maybe even vote for your favourite.
However you decide to do it, let’s bring some extra happiness and community spirit to the village this Christmas!
We will be holding an online Carol service and an online Christingle Service – so watch out for details nearer the time!
We plan for our very first online worship service to premier on Youtube.com tomorrow morning at 10:15am. Youtube is very easy to use. You just need to type in J22 Benefice and you will find our channel, or use the link below.
The service will be approx 35 minutes, allowing you to tune into the cenotaph or observe the 2 minute silence in whatever way you wish after it.
We invite you to make use of our ‘Poppy Cross Prayer Station’ as a place to lay a poppy, or tie a ribbon and say an individual prayer of remembrance. You can visit the Poppy Cross, situated at the top of St Peter’s new churchyard, while out on your daily exercise between 8th and 11th November .Â
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, very sadly we will not be able to hold the usual Service of Remembrance in church.
