Would you like to help with….

Supporting a small group of adults with learning disabilities with their contract gardening enterprise.

You will be responsible for the following:

 Driving a truck and trailer

  • Supporting a small group of adults with learning disabilities to safely carry out basic garden and maintenance tasks in a variety of gardens within the community.
  • Safely loading the truck with the machinery and tools required (Lawnmower etc)
  • Ensuring safety while using all machinery or tools involved.
  • Ensuring those involved are carrying out tasks to suit abilities.
  • Being a positive representative for WHM within the community.
  • Time keeping- to ensure the group sets off on time, carries out work efficiently, breaks are planned, and that the group returns to main site on time.
  • Completion of relevant risk assessments and ensuring they are kept up to date.
  • Organising the ‘Helping Hands’ diary with future bookings/ cancelations with help from the CECIC enterprise coordinator.
  • Organising payments and money handling.

 Requirements

  • Driving license, with approved use of trailer attached to vehicle.
  • Competent use of gardening machinery and tools- Lawn Mower, Strimmer etc
  • First Aid Training
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Good time keeping, organisation and planning skills.

The Bells…are ringing… 15th June

St Peter’s Church Thornton

The bells will be ringing out on Saturday 15th June

Visiting ringers from Market Harborough will be  ringing 10am until 10.45am

RInging wil then take place for 30 minutes at 12.30pm for a wedding at 1.0pm and for further 10 minutes after the wedding ceremony.

St Peter’s Church ~ working party

The next churchyard working party is this Saturday 8th June 2024 10 am to 12 noon.

If you would like to join us, please do, even if it’s only for a short time.

Jobs include

· Gathering fallen branches and twigs and move to bonfire site.

· Remove moss from church walls, Bishop’s walk etc, especially the area near the water butt.  If you look you will see what needs doing – please leave the Lichen.

· Clear holly, ivy, saplings moss etc from headstones, graves, trees and surrounds.

And anything else you feel needs doing.


Please bring a drink, any tools you might find handy, stout gloves and suitable footwear.

Tea with a Twist ~ 8th May

Its Thornton Teas with a Twist – 3Ts – Today, Wednesday 8th May 2 to 4 pm
