Watch BBC tv on Saturday to see a familiar face!

I understand that our very own George Lee has been included and filmed by the BBC for their programme on Saturday to commemorate VJ day. There is a programme scheduled to start at 9.30 in the morning live from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffs, then another programme later in the day. Apparently the BBC were with him for over 4 hours interviewing and filming in the garden. Well done George, we are very proud of you!

The church has been set up so social distancing is easy, hand sanitiser has been placed in the porch and on the book case, posters reminding people to remember social distancing and to use the hand sanitiser are in place.

Both inner and outdoors will be left propped open.Places where folk should sit are clearly marked.

Service booklets will be on seats already – placed there at least 3 days before the service.

There will be no singing and hymn books will not be in use.T

here will be no refreshments after the service.

Please wear facemasks. If that’s not possible, please contact Shirley Garlick on 230422, to let her know before your arrival.

The church is cleaned at least 3 days before each service. In other words, every possible precaution is being taken.

The church has been thoroughly cleaned and all our procedures have been approved by the Area Dean.  Social distancing will be in place, and hand sanitizer must  be used to ensure everyone’s safety.   There will always be two of us supervising, and available to answer questions.

Showing your respects to a former mayor – Jeff Chantrell

Jeff Chantrell, who was a local councillor and a former Mayor in the area, very sadly passed away on 15th June. His funeral is on Monday 6th July at Loughborough Crematorium at 11 am.
The hearse will be leaving from Highfields in Thornton, travelling along Main Street and then out along Markfield Lane. If local people would like to pay their respects, you might like to do so by lining the roadside (keeping socially distanced…) as the hearse passes by. The suggested time is about 10.20 am.
