Email: – clerk@bagworthandthornton.org.uk. Telephone 01530 230638 or 07580 574093 or visit the Parish Council Office in Bagworth Community Centre on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday between 9.30am and 1pm
On Saturday morning, Shirley Garlic and the Friends of St Peter’s organised a massive clean up operation to rid the church of the dead bees that had plagued the building since May. Fifteen villagers turned up to help, all armed with a dustpan and brush, cloths, disinfectant and polish. Two hours later the church was sparkling. At last the congregation can move back to the church after their temporary home at the Community Centre. A huge thank you to all the volunteers for making this possible.

On Friday 26th July, members of the Thornton W.I. and guests were invited to visit Kathryn’s garden and wildlife meadow at the rear of her home in Main Street. The garden and meadow, stretching down to the reservoir, is bursting with colour, the hum of bees and a plethora of butterflies and birds. The tour was led by neighbour and wildlife enthusiast, Andy Smith who identified the plants and butterflies on show. As many as 17 different species of butterflies have been spotted in the meadow on previous occasions. A very hot and humid day, the tea and cakes served on the terrace were most welcome.

The good news is that there are no longer bees plaguing St Peter’s Church and we are hoping to get the church building back in use asap. There will be a working party to have a big clear up THIS SATURDAY 27th – from 10am – 12 noon. All help very welcome – just turn up! The church has been out of use since May when bees started nesting in the wall, this meant that bees were getting trapped in the building and dying in huge numbers To get the church in a usable state there is lots of cleaning up to do – PLEASE BRING A DUSTPAN AND BRUSH! The plan is to get back into using the church – rather than the Community Centre, which has been our temporary home – by August 4th! If you have any queries please call 230422 or email churchwarden.thornton@gmail.com
