Thornton Primary School Fayre

A village in Leicestershire and in the heart of the National Forest, overlooking Thornton Reservoir.

Another successful quiz night at the village hall on the 8th June raised £300 towards the upkeep of the centre.
72 locals and visitors enjoyed a ‘bring and share’ supper. £90 in prize money was given away and a fun time had by all.
Look out for the next one in the winter which will be a fish and chip supper.

Due to illness – the 50’s & 60’s night at The Thornton club on Saturday 8th June has been cancelled. Apologies to all who were looking forward to an excellent fun night out.
RockSka will be playing on Saturday 22nd June
Will’s Karaoke will be on Saturday 6th July
Due to an infestation of honey bees in St Peters Church the Sunday service will be held in the Community Centre between 10am & midday until further notice.

A couple of hours a month to spare?
Why not come along and join the trustees looking after the village community centre?
It is not an onerous position and there is plenty of support from the other trustees. We are gradually upgrading the facilities at the centre for the benefit of all the community but could do with some help and some fresh ideas.
We also have an events sub committee who are trying to bring new and varied events to the hall and we too are in need of helpers in the kitchen/on the door/putting out the furniture etc.
Why not become involved – it is a great way to secure the future of the best amenity in the village and make new friends along the way.

The Beer & Gin Music Festival will be back at the Thornton Club over the weekend of Fri, Sat and Sun (30th, 31st Aug and 1st Sept). Bands booked so far include RockSka, Punk & Disorderly, The Travelling Riverside Blues band and Eddy Hall.
More details to follow.
